Mihaela Dirlea has studied psychology at the University of Toronto, National University of Singapore and the University of Hong Kong. She has lived in Romania, Canada, Singapore and Hong Kong. It was during her traveling time that she became especially interested in the versatile cultural manifestations of sexual attraction and its meta-implications.
Her art explores aesthetic asceticism within the framework of human cultural belief systems - the metamorphosis of the female body into a canvas that displays not only social status but also constitutes an exercise of rebellion.
Her current projects involve making jewelry and decorative pieces out of cardboard, buttons and old plastics. contact: miha.dirlea@hotmail.ca
